Course “PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN THE TREATMENT OF DEPENDENCE”

Goals:

  • Emphasize the importance of physical activity in preserving the body and mind, both in disease prevention and treatment.
  • Present the different physical activities performed in a Psychiatric Clinic, respecting the differences and needs of each patient.
  • Offer practical experience to students, with a face-to-face internship at the Jorge Jaber Clinic.

Who can attend the course?

The Physical Education Course in the Treatment of Chemical Dependence is a free course, with special interest in professionals and students in the areas of Physical Education, Medicine, Physiotherapy and others.

Model:

Free online course, with classes broadcast on Facebook. Classes are recorded and can be watched.

Workload:

Theoretical module: Four classes, on Thursdays, at 7 pm, of 90 minutes each, for a total of 6 hours.

Practical module: 24 face-to-face classes, at the Jorge Jaber Clinic, on dates agreed between the student and the course coordinator.

4 – The World Health Organization (WHO) and Physical Exercise

  • Class II – July 14

Physiology applied to physical training in Psychiatric Clinic

1 – Hormones and physical activity

2 – Physical activity at different stages of life

  • Class III – July 21

Physical activity in mental health, chemical dependency and the 12 Steps

1 – Benefits of physical activity in psychiatric and chemically dependent patients

2 – What is chemical dependence and how physical activity contributes to recovery

3 – The experience of the 12 Steps Program in physical activities
